In addition to regular Sunday programming, the Society offers a variety of interesting activities throughout the month. There is something of interest for almost everyone. For specific details about these meetings and events, please call the Society office at 847-677-3334.

 

Creative Writers Group

Leader: Sue Sherman

To stimulate exploration in various forms of creative writing, including poetry, playlets, short stories, memoirs, and essays. Writers are encouraged to develop original work to share at monthly meetings. 3rd Sunday of the month at 12:15 p.m.

 

Ethical Humanities

Leader: Ken Novak & Sue Sherman 

Discusses issues and perspectives introduced by select non-fiction books (meets every other month on Sundays at 12:15 p.m.) Usually the first Sunday of every other month.

 

Fiction Circle

Leader: Ken Novak & Sue Sherman 

Discusses select works of classic and modern fiction (meets every other month on Sundays at 12:15 p.m.) Usually the first Sunday of every other month.

 

Film Discussion Group

Leader: John Ungashick 

Encourages thoughtful viewing of current motion pictures. Provides a cordial forum for exchanging opinions and exploring meanings, artistic techniques and performances. Usually the 2nd Monday of the month.

 

Men’s Group

Contact: Oliver Pergams 

Explores issues and relationships involving fathers, husbands, and friends through readings and informal discussion. 

 

Women’s Group

Leaders: Chris Martin

The Women's Group is interested in getting to know one another by working together on social action and other projects. Members presented Sunday programs: "The Contributions of Extraordinary Women in 2003", and "Well-Behaved Women Rarely Make History" in 2004.

 

Youth Program

Adult Coordinators: Lisa Crowe & Sharon Appelquist

Chicago YES (Youth in Ethical Societies) is a group for our teens. We organize activities and fundraising for human rights, the environment, and other local social action projects.
